At the Q1E Trust, we work with a number of experienced consultants to support school improvements and provide professional coaching to our staff.

Q1E School Improvement Consultant

Nick is an experienced lead advisor who works for the Q1E Trust one day a week, supporting our school leaders and teachers to identify and implement school improvement measures that raise the quality of teaching and improve outcomes for all pupils. He brings experience as a lead advisor for a number of London boroughs and academy trusts, as well as international consultancy. Nick has a Masters Degree in Education (Distinction) from Brunel University London, was awarded Consultant Leader status by the National College for School Leadership, and has been a qualified Ofsted inspector since 2011.

Q1E School Improvement Consultant                        

 

Laurie Ann is an experienced leader who, as a headteacher, took two primary schools to ‘outstanding’ status.  Ofsted described her leadership as “inspirational”. She undertakes a regular consultancy role for Q1E, supporting all our schools to improve provision and outcomes for children. She has a particular focus on Early Years provision.

Q1E Executive Coach

Mike Fleetham is an experienced executive coach, consultant, and author who works with senior leaders across Q1E to develop confident, reflective, and high-impact leadership. With over 30 years in education as a teacher, leader, and national trainer, Mike brings deep expertise in coaching-led development and organisational growth. He has written several influential books on teaching and learning, including How to Create and Develop a Thinking Classroom, and has supported hundreds of schools and trusts in building strong leadership cultures. Through his work with Q1E, Mike helps leaders think clearly, act strategically, and lead with authenticity and purpose.

Q1E Professional Coach

Tom is an experienced professional coach with extensive experience of school leadership and improvement. He is the highly regarded former headteacher of the outstanding St Anselm’s Catholic Primary in Tooting, and played a key role in the successful London Challenge programme. As a graduate of the Co-active Coaching Institute he provides professional coaching and career development support to Q1E staff at all levels. He plays an active role in his church community and has a strong interest in reflective thinking and spiritual growth.

Steve Trow

Q1E Consultant Leader

Steve Trow is an experienced school leader who has worked in education for 35 years, 24 of which have been as Headteacher of Earlsfield Primary School which he led through two ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted inspections. In July 2025, Steve stepped out of Headship to explore new opportunities and to continue his own learning journey. Having worked alongside the Q1E Trust for many years, he has joined the Trust as a Consultant Leader to provide support to Thomas’s Academy who are new to the Trust.

Jon Le Fevre

Q1E Safeguarding Consultant

With over 25 years in primary education, including 17 as a Headteacher, Jon Le Fevre has dedicated his career to ensuring all children—especially those needing extra support—flourish. Rooted in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, he has led child-centred, safe, and emotionally supportive schools. A passionate safeguarding lead, Jon has developed strong multi-agency partnerships and trauma-informed practices. In 2024, he worked with the Department for Education as a consultant in the role of the first National Safeguarding Partner Facilitator for Education, and in October 2025, he launched the Strategic Safeguarding Quality Mark Framework to strengthen safeguarding across education. Jon is supporting the Q1E Trust DSLs and others to develop safeguarding strategy and policy, to look at where we can improve our practice, and to provide one-to-one support to our staff.
